More Medical Offices in YC

Yet another medical-related building is going up in Yuba City's Town Center,
adding to the growing medical complex on Plumas Street.
Yuba City officials and council members will break out the golden shovel for
a Feb. 23 groundbreaking for a 20,000-square-foot, two-story office building
at 470 Plumas St. Construction Jan. 31.
When Capitol Avenue Development's new $3.5 million medical office building
is finished this summer, it will see traffic from visitors to the Town
Center's growing medical complex.
Capitol Avenue has built medical offices in other locations. It started
looking at the Yuba City market and found it could handle a medium-sized
retail office facility, said Brad Hays, partner with Capitol Avenue
Development. The West Sacramento firm is building the office with Granite
Land Co. of Watsonville.
The company also liked the improvements that Yuba City had put in place in
Town Center, Hays said.
"We were intrigued by what we saw in Town Center," Hays said.
Some of the 280 people employed by Sutter North medical facilities will
likely stop in the deli and coffee shop downstairs. They may even do some
banking, one of the retail services that may go in at the medical office
center, which is sandwiched between two Sutter North facilities.
"We're trying to add some more services into that area," Hays said.
The office building is one of three new facilities under construction in the
last year in the area of Town Center, the site of a former cannery. It would
be the fifth medical-related building on Plumas Street when it is completed.
Construction began just over a year ago for an $18 million,
60,000-square-foot Sutter North Medical Foundation Medical Office Building
and Ambulatory Surgery Center. That facility is on schedule to open in May
Thompson Physical Therapy Associates opened an 8,600-square-foot facility at
B Street and Wilbur Avenue on Aug. 16.
